Gateway Global Outreach

November 22, 2022: It is with much sadness that we convey the passing of our founder, Doss Estep on November 20th. Doss started Gateway Global Outreach out of a desire to sponsor short-term and long-term missions projects across the globe.

Doss was saved at and served at First Baptist Church in Seaman, Ohio. He went on to become a pastor at First Baptist Church of Manchester, Ohio and Winslow Park Baptist Church which became Creek Road Baptist Church in Sharonville, Ohio. From there he became passionate about missions and served as Minister of Missions at Liberty Heights Church in West Chester, Ohio and Urbancrest Baptist Church in Lebanon, Ohio. Doss formed Gateway Global Outreach to support missions in Africa, Argentina, and Ecuador. He traveled to Mongolia, Argentina, Peru, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Cuba, Mexico and Haiti and Uganda Africa (most frequently) but other Africa countries as well. Missionaries currently serving abroad as a result of Doss' efforts, include Jeri Cook in Malawi, Africa, and Nolan and Patty Purtell in Ecuador. Additionally he trained and supported hundreds of teams to serve on short term missions and led those groups to the above countries. As a result of all the missions’ trips, thousands of people were led to Christ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to here at the Gateway Global Outreach site and designated to the Purtell’s or to the General Fund.

Coronavirus Relief: Since April of 2020, by the Grace of God, Gateway Global Outreach (GGO) has been providing coronavirus relief in the form of food donations. We have been providing funds to Pastor Alfred Adundo Wafula from Macedonia Vision Africa (MVA), who has been distributing food to the most vulnerable people in the Masese slum in Jinja, Uganda. Specifically, the food has been going to:

- Single teenage mothers,
- PWD - People with Disabilities, and the
- Elderly

Praise God that we have helped over 1,000 people. We are providing them with life sustaining food, including maize flour and beans.

Please pray particularly for the young women in the slum who are being taken advantage of by predatory men who are making promises of support in exchange for sex, resulting in many teen pregnancies and broken promises.

While we were last in-country, we were able to help distribute food to the single teenage mothers and to People with Disabilities. Your contributions are saving these people from starvation, as the government has not, and is not, providing any form of stimulus or food stuffs to their people. We are continuing to provide food aid due to rising prices caused by the war in the Ukraine. Ukraine is one of the largest suppliers of maize flour to the world. Due to the war, the supply of flour coming out of the Ukraine has dwindled. This has resulted in a 140% increase in price -- from 1,000 UGX ($0.37) per kilogram to 2,400 UGX ($0.89) per kilogram. The Ugandan's whom we are helping make about $2.00 US/day (if/when they are working), so this is a significant increase.

Below is a picture of Pastor Alfred delivering maize flour to a member of the PWD community.

We have also been blessed to provide coronavirus relief in the form of salary assistance to a number of Ugandan pastors and also to the staff at Mission Vision Africa.
